Integrated Production Records & Authentication Tool

The British Lambretta Archive has now integrated its original Innocenti factory production records directly into a unified VIN interpretation and authentication platform.

This integration brings together model-level production data, frame and engine numbering systems, and original source documentation into a single evidential framework — allowing historical reference, VIN interpretation, and authentication to be derived from the same primary records.

Milan Fair 1948 – Innocenti stand
Milan Fair, 1948 – the M125 and early Innocenti prototypes on display.

    Nestled in Our Historical Archives

Within our archives lies a wealth of original material relating to Innocenti — the “factory of giants.” From the revolutionary invention of the scaffold clamp and seamless steel tubing to the mysterious birth of the Lambretta, every innovation tells a story steeped in ingenuity and intrigue.

Right: Pictured here for the first time, the M125 on display at the Milan Fair of 1948 — a striking showcase featuring Mark 2 models and two versions of Innocenti’s “Experiment 4,” the prototype that would inspire the Furgoncino B125 “little van.”

Also notable is the abundance of engine cutaways displayed around the Lambretta stand — each revealing the intricate inner workings and the remarkable engineering excellence that defined these iconic machines.

    Experiment 4

Experiment 4 was Innocenti’s late-stage prototype study for a light commercial three-wheeler and the direct precursor to the Furgoncino B125. Developed during 1947–1948 and publicly displayed at the Milan Fair, it represents one of the most advanced experimental projects undertaken at the Centro Studi. Read the full Experiment 4 article.
