1/6th Lambretta Model Stand
Back in 2022/2023 Tim Draper set up a page on Facebook for a project he had been working on — a realistic 3D model of a Lambretta GP/DL for rendering. His page quickly sparked people’s attention and created a cult following. Then in early 2024 Tim decided to set up a waiting list on a first-come, first-served basis for people to take ownership of their very own 3D-printed model to build and paint to their hearts’ content. Fortunately here at Casa JL serial number 001 arrived, and as soon as there was some downtime from everything else — adulting, life, scooters — I got busy modelling. A former work colleague and all-round modelling extraordinaire, Mr. Tony “JUGS” Juggins, now enjoying his well-deserved retirement, had kitted me out with all the best modelling equipment I would need.
As a CAD engineer and draughtsman by trade, I use CAD and 3D printers daily for rapid prototyping. Recently I picked up a new printer for myself and have been busy creating all sorts of things. One of those was a Lambretta stand. Based on original Innocenti technical drawings in the archive, I printed one for myself. Since then I’ve strengthened the design to include 2mm wall thickness, 15% sparse infill, and a 3mm top surface. These are printed on a textured print bed, which gives a uniform finish. You can leave your stand as-is or customise/paint it however you want. I opted to paint the embossed Lambretta logo in chrome to make it pop — or you could paint yours Innocenti blue with white lettering like Innocenti’s original 1960s trade stands. Collector Mark Richo has used his original trade stand at custom shows such as Bridlington over the years. As with all additive manufacturing, some finishing work may be required.
These stands are available here on a print-to-order basis. Print time is approx. 4.5 hours, made in order of request. Price is £25 + shipping (UK Mainland only). Overseas buyers — please email me first.
