1953 Little Moped.

This fantastic prototype, unfortunatly was only made in very few prototype numbers and one such example still exists in private ownership of Mario Montorsi. The images of which are shown below along with some original factory photos from Johnny's collection.
The scooter, a lightweight 50cc moped, was quite ingenious in its design and mechanics. A pull start shaft driven motor postitioned perpendicular, oscilated acting as a rear swing arm with the top end in a horizontal perpendicular position. Above, a small fuel tank, and a luggage compartment behind the seat, which on this surviving example is still in its prototype form and made of wood. There were no legshield to protect you from the weather, however the front wheel was covered by an ample mud guard nonetheless. The wheels are of spoke type and the front suspension is derived from that of the Lambretta model E in a reverse layout, you can see Innocenti tried both leading and trailing link variations of this in the accompanying photos. The frame is of stamped metal construction, typical of the Lambretta 48 launched in 1955.
